Several schools celebrated ‘Sankranti Sambaralu’ in advance drawing different patterns of rangoli.
The premises of Delhi Public School (DPS), Visakhapatnam-North, wore a festive look as students presented ‘Sankranti Nrutyaroopakam’.
Heralding the festive spirit, ‘Bommalakoluvu’, ‘Gangireddulu’, and Haridasu, and an inter-house music competition ‘Balasangeetha Mahotsav’ attracted the attention of the audience. Annamayya ‘sankeertanalu’ and classical dance performance were part of the event. Additional Superintendent of Police (retired) T.S.R. Prasad, principal Eshwari Prabhakar, and correspondent Suma Revanth were among those who attended the programme.
The festive spirit soared as students of DPS-Ukkunagaram celebrated ‘lohiri’ by lighting bonfire. A dance drama encapsulating the essence of Sankranti and a Rajasthani dance ‘Dholbaje’ were presented by the students. Principal B. Aruna Kumari spoke on the significance of the festival and underlined the need to nurture traditions.
‘Bhogi mantalu’, Haridasu, ‘Bhogi pallu’, ‘Gangireddu’, and Gita ‘parayanam’ marked ‘Pongal’ celebrations at Ravindra Bharathi School, MVP branch. Principal N.V. Ramani, staff, and students participated in the events that included a number of cultural programmes.
It was combined celebrations at Ameya World School as the institution celebrated its annual day and the harvest festival with gusto.
Interactive sessions, exhibition of science, social, and mathematics models, dance performances formed part of the show. HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao attended as chief guest. Director of the school Tulasi Mandava, principal Col K. Ramam, and staff were present.
The atmosphere soaked in festive spirit as Alwardas Public School celebrated Sankranti. The floor was decorated with impressive designs of rangoli and flowers. Apart from ‘Bhogi mantalu’ and ‘gobbemmalu’, kite-flying and rangoli competitions marked the celebrations. Correspondent S. Vijaya Ravindra and principal Sri Vani emphasised the importance of celebrating Sankranti.
