The officials of the GVMC should focus on problems and issues being faced by members of women self-help groups, GVMC Commissioner M. V. Satyanarayana said.
Addressing a meeting of officials and representatives of women SHGs on Saturday, the Commissioner directed the officials to hold regular meetings with the APDs and the SHG women to understand their problems. He told them to prepare a thorough document on the issues within a week so that it could be discussed and addressed. The problems that could be addressed at their level should be disposed of immediately, he directed the Zonal Commissioners.
Directive
He wanted the issues being faced by women SHGs in bank linkages to be documented and a meeting be organised with the bankers where they could be sorted out.
The GVMC is studying the working of women SHGs of Ward 2 who have been allocated the sanitation and maintenance work, and based on their performance similar work would be handed over to women SHGs in other wards also, he said.
He directed the officials to identify vacant government buildings to be given to SHGs for holding regular meetings and in case they were not available the officials should identify places for construction of community halls, he said.
Survey
The civic chief directed the officials to ensure saturation coverage of schemes like Abhayahastam, Janasri Bhima, pensions and Bangaru Talli, among others.
The livelihood survey of women SHGs should be completed soon, Additional Commissioner M. Janaki instructed the officials, and said that a select few members would be taken on a study tour to Hyderabad and Pune.
Additional Commissioner Purnachandra Rao, UCD Project Director Panduranga Rao, zonal commissioners Shivaji, Sri Rama Murthy, A Srinivas, Vijayalakshmi, APDs and members of SHGs participated in the meeting.
