GITAM to introduce new B. Tech, certificate courses

Decision taken at academic council meet

The GITAM Deemed to be University on Thursday approved 11 new certificate courses, apart from new B. Tech and LL.M. programmes which will be introduced from the 2019-20 academic year.

The decision was taken at the 16th academic council meeting of the university, with its in-charge Vice-Chancellor K. Sivaramakrishna in the chair.

Programme details

The new certificate courses that have got the approval of the GITAM authorities include behavioural economics, human performance enhancement and life skills, big data, blockchain technology, deep learning, drug regulatory affairs, industrial safety, tribal laws, forensic law, legal regulations of economic enterprises/capital and financial markets, international comparative environmental law and advanced legal drafting.

New B.Tech. programme in ‘computer science and business systems’ will be offered at the university, in collaboration with the Tata Consultancy Services (TCS).

“The GITAM Deemed to be University is offering industry designed programmes which is the first-of-its-kind course in Andhra Pradesh. The academic council has also approved the new post-graduate programmes such as LL.M in IPR and cyber law, corporate law,” Mr. Sivaramakrishna said after the meeting.

Registrar K.V.G.D. Balaji, N. Siva Prasad and Sivapullaiah, the Pro-Vice-Chancellors of the GITAM’s campuses in Hyderabad and Bengaluru respectively participated in the meeting.
