In a bid to hone the skills of its engineering students in the latest manufacturing technologies for shipbuilding, repair and high end manufacturing sector, GITAM Deemed to be University on Tuesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Centre of Excellence in Maritime & Ship Building (CEMS), Visakhapatnam.

CEMS Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Rear Admiral Sekhar Mittal and GITAM Registrar K.V.G.D. Balaji exchanged the MoU documents in the presence of GITAM In-charge Vice-Chancellor K. Sivaramakrishna.

Speaking on the occasion, Rear Admiral Sekhar Mittal said the CEMS will offer 50 courses across 18 specialisations, covering 770 modules, of which 271 are based on tools and algorithm while 500 are related process.

Eligibility

Students pursuing the third year UG programmes in engineering and second year PG courses are eligible for the courses, he said, adding that the CEMS would issue valid certificates to students after completion of the courses.

GITAM Institute of Technology principal K. Lakshmiprasad, Centre for Projects and Consultancy Director M.R.S. Satyanarayana and others were present.
