GITAM likely to sign MoU with Microsoft

GITAM University has initiated a dialogue with global software giant Microsoft for an MoU in areas covering training, placement, research and other academic interests, at the university campus on Thursday.

In presence of the President of the university M.V.V.S. Murthi, the Managing Director of Microsoft - India Sanket Akerkar said that “the beginning has been made, as we are very impressed by the campus and its facilities.”

Quoting Steve Ballmer, CEO of Microsoft, he said, “We have a number of programmes to support the education system across the globe and we are working on models for further penetration.” Giving details Mr. Akerkar said, “This year the response for the Imagine Cup, a pan-India competition, has been tremendous and three teams have been selected to represent the country for the global competition to be held at New York, later this year. The competition is supported by the UN.

Apart from that, we have programmes like Dream Spark- a free software download programme, Live at EDU for school children and IT Academy- a certification programme for graduates.”

The Vice-Chancellor of GITAM University G. Subrahmanyam, the Director (GEO Expansion) of Microsoft-India Raj Katari, Sumeet Saluja from Microsoft Corporation and other senior faculty members were present at the meet.
