‘Gandhi true leader of the masses’

Mahatma Gandhi was a versatile and multifaceted world leader of masses, whose contributions to the promotion of world peace and non-violence were followed by Marin Luther and other great leaders, said K. Rammohan Rao, Principal of College of Arts and Commerce, Andhra University, here on Monday.

He was delivering inaugural address at a one-day symposium on ‘Gandhian Approach to Rural Development and Communication’ jointly organised by Centre for Gandhian Studies and Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, AU.

Prof. Rammohan Rao described Mahatma Gandhi as a true leader of masses and the best effective communicator, who mobilised crores of people towards the freedom movement.A.B.S.V. Ranga Rao, Director of the Centre for Gandhian Studies, said around 100 participants representing various States presented research papers on Gandhian approach to rural development and communication. S.V. Sudhakar, former Vice-Chancellor of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University, spoke.
