Five held in land grabbing cases

Five persons were arrested by the PM Palem police on Wednesday in connection with two cases of land grabbing.

DCP (law and order, zone I) C.M. Trivikrama Varma said that P. Sanjay had allegedly encroached upon some part of land purchased by Sudhakar, Giri and Uma Maheswara Rao in 2010 and damaged a borewell on it and the compound wall around it. While investigating the case following a complaint by Mr. Umamaheswara Rao, it was found that Yerrababu, who was previous owner of the land, had executed a GPA in the name of Sanjay by taking Rs. 1.5 lakh from him. The police arrested Sanjay on the charge of trespassing and Yerrababu for executing a GPA after he disposed of the land.

In another case P. Siva, a rowdy sheeter, V. Sanyasi Rao and T. Vidyasagar were arrested, while P. Jagannadham, father of Siva and who also has a criminal record, and is absconding, for allegedly trespassing into the land of Ch. Venkata Subbaraju and damaging a borewell and a compound wall.
