Andhra University has received Rs. 9.60 crore from the University Grants Commission under the Special Assistance Programme for research.
The grant will be distributed among six departments for carrying out research in specific areas, Vice-Chancellor G.S.N. Raju has said.
The Department of Chemical Engineering has been sanctioned Rs. 2.4 crore for undertaking research in electrochemical and corrosion engineering. A sum of Rs. 1.5 crore has been sanctioned to the Department of Mechanical Engineering for carrying out research in machines and materials, heat transfer technology, and industrial engineering. To undertake research in ultrasonic, solid state physics, and space physics, the Department Physics has been given Rs. 1.35 crore. The Department of Organic and Analytical Chemistry has been sanctioned Rs. 1.36 crore for research in key areas of nano material and electron transfer reaction. Similarly, Rs. 54 lakh has been sanctioned to the Department of Instrumentation Technology for research in sensors and nano electronics. The Department of Commerce and Management will get Rs. 67 lakh. The College of Law has been sanctioned Rs. 1.25 crore.
