Fervour, gaiety mark ‘Teppotsavam’

Traditional fervour and gaiety marked the ‘Teppotsavam’ of Sri Venkateswara Swamy as part of the annual ‘Tirukalyanamahotsavams’ in the port area on Monday.

The processional idols of the Lord and His consorts Sridevi and Bhudevi were brought in a palanquin from atop the Srungamani Hill.

Visakhapatnam (South) MLA Vasupalli Ganesh Kumar received the palanquin at the foothill and carried it along with others to the waiting boat.

Devotees followed the procession in two tugs.

The day began with ‘Suprabhatam’ at 5 a.m. and was followed by special pujas. Huge crowds gathered to watch the colourful procession.

The Tirukalyanotsavams commenced with the Viswaksena puja and other pujas at the temple, located atop the hill. on May 28.

The week-long festival will conclude on Wednesday evening.
