Commodore Siddharth Mishra (retd.), Chairman and Managing Director of Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL), Hyderabad, motivated girls and boys undergoing skill training at the Indo-German Institute of Advanced Technology (IGIAT) to dream big and work towards achieving the same.
The CMD was accompanied by BDL General Manager (P & A) S. Narayanan, Manager (P & A-CSR) Krishnavardhan Kontheti and Senior Manager (Unit-HR), BDL, Visakhapatnam Unit, during his visit to IGIAT here on Friday.
Addressing the trainees on the occasion, Commodore Mishra expressed happiness on seeing a good number of girls among the trainees.
He said that women could attain success in any field provided they set a goal for themselves and work towards achieving the same. He commended IGIAT for providing training to needy students from tribal and remote rural areas through various training programmes.
IGIAT Director B. Vinod Kumar thanked BDL for extending support to the institute for ‘Placement linked skill development programmes’ for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/PwD/women and economically weaker sections of society apart from the setting up of five digital classrooms at the institute under its CSR activities.
He said that 200 youths were trained in December, 2017, of whom 161 were given placements and another 175 unemployed youths were being trained in various trades since March this year. These two training programmes and the digital classrooms were executed at a total cost of ₹1.46 crore.
‘Sustainable livelihood’
The objective of the training programmes was to provide sustainable livelihood to unemployed youths from weaker sections to develop their capacity and capability by imparting skill sets required by the industry.
The CMD and the General Manager distributed course completion certificates and placement letters to the 2019-20 batch students.
Earlier, the CMD planted saplings at the IGIAT garden. He went round the BDL-sponsored digital labs and other labs of the institute and interacted with the faculty members and students
