CREDAI strike today

October 13, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:49 am IST - VISAKHAPATNAM:

In response to a protest call given at the national level following the suicide of Suraj Parmar of Cosmos group, CREDAI will observe a day’s strike on Tuesday by stopping construction activity, according to its honorary secretary B. Srinivasa Rao.

Parmar, also president of Maharasthra Chamber of Housing Industry, shot himself last week.

A CREDAI release said that he had taken the extreme step because of the glaring loopholes in the system, including, delays in getting approvals and implementing government policies, plans getting rejected with retrospective effect, political interference, application of rules and regulations with retrospective effect, subjecting ongoing projects to whimsical regulation etc.

Parmar had a good track record in the real estate and delivered good number of landmark buildings, the statement added.

The Visakhapatnam Chapter of CREDAI expressed its condolences.

The suicide note left by Parmar is an indictment of the present system and exposed may lacunae, it said.
