Fearing that their parents may not accept their love, a couple committed suicide by jumping into the Yeleru canal near Tummapala area under Anakapalle town police station limits in Visakhapatnam district late on Sunday night.
The deceased were identified as K. Srinivasa Rao (26) and C. Durga Lakshmi (18). Both were employees at Brandix India Apparel City at Atchutapuram in Visakhapatnam district.
While Srinivasa Rao was a resident of Tummapala, Lakshmi was a resident of Ch. Agraharam, said Inspector of Anakapalle Town Police, G. Chandra.
On Sunday night, the duo met at Tummapala and decided to take the extreme step. Locals found the bodies floating in the canal on Monday morning and informed the police.
