Alleging that attempts are being made to hand over 3,000 acres belonging to the Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL) to the POSCO on the pretext of a joint venture, CITU State president Ch. Narsinga Rao on Sunday said that they would intensify agitation to safeguard the ‘attempts to grab valuable government land.’

Addressing the 11th ‘mahasabha’ of the CITU’s city unit here, Mr. Rao said they would submit evidence on grabbing of government land by certain influential people before the new Special Investigation Team (SIT).

“Our fight against the their anti-labour policies of the Centre and the State will continue. We will educate workers on their rights. Awareness will be created on the move sell away public sectors such as RINL and BSNL to benefit certain corporates,” Mr. Rao said.

He alleged that the NDA government was trying to dole out benefits to the corporates.

He also came down heavily against the stand taken by Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhara Rao on the strike being spearheaded by the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSTRC) employees.

Earlier in the day, CITU activists and workers took out a rally.

CITU State vice-president R.K.S.V. Kumar and secretary M. Jaggu Naidu also spoke on the occasion.
