AU grand alumni meet today

All arrangements have been made to conduct the grand alumni meet of Andhra University at AU Convocation Theatre on Monday evening.

The meeting being arranged on a massive scale is expected to draw old students of all batches. An estimated 3,000 old students, living in various parts of the country, are expected to attend the meeting. Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao supervised the arrangements for the meeting in which Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will participate. Vice-Chancellor GSN Raju, Rector EA Narayana, Registrar V. Umamaheswara Rao, AP Council of Higher Education Vice Chairman P. Vijay Prakash supervised the arrangements all through the day. The Chief Minister is expected to inaugurate the meeting at 5 p.m. and spend an hour there. Union Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu, who is an alumnus of Andhra University, Mr. Srinivasa Rao, a host of Ministers, MPs and MLAs are expected to attend. Registration of old students will begin at the the Convocation Theatre from 10 a.m. A membership card will be given to all the old students. A total of 10 computers have been installed for this purpose. Later, the old students would visit their respective Departments and the hostels, where they had stayed during their student days.

Parking

Only vehicles of the Chief Minister, Ministers, MLAs, senior Government officials, AU Vice-Chancellor, Rector, and Registrar would be allowed to be parked on either side of the Convocation Theatre. Parking of vehicles beside the roads leading to the venue would not be allowed.

Parking for other VIP cars has been provided opposite AU Arts College. Parking is not allowed at AU Assembly Hall. University staff and former students can park their cars at AU Gymnasium Ground and at the parking lots at the School of Distance Education and Platinum Jubilee Guest House. Scooter/motorcycles can be parked at Dr. VS Krishna Library, Statistics Building and Population Research Centre.
