AOL plans to open 15 centres in city

June 15, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:46 am IST - VISAKHAPATNAM:

To imbibe moral values among children and revive ancient practice of chanting slokas , narrating inspirational stories, providing training in yoga asanas and introducing the little ones to ‘Dadi ma ke nuskhe’ (home-made remedies), the Art of Living (AOL) is planning to open 15 Sri Sri Sanskar Kendras in Visakhapatnam.

Keeping the busy schedule of working parents in view, AOL has come up with this initiative and is soon going to launch the centres in various neighbourhoods across the city. “With the growing trend of nuclear families, the kendra aims at giving an insight into traditional method of learning and providing a holistic approach to education, connecting different cultures. Intensive training will be given to the volunteers of AOL to meet the requirement,” says Vandana Aadesh, national coordinator of Sri Sri Sanskar Kendra.

At present, AOL has more than 750 centres across the globe, including the ones in Australia, New Zealand, Dhaka, and Abu Dhabi. In Guntur, AOL has more than 25 kendras.

“A kendra is coming up in Tirupati shortly. Depending on the requirement, more branches will be opened in future,” says B. Rama Devi, State coordinator of AOL.

Training

The training includes a two-hour interactive module spread over 40 sessions. Those aged between seven and 11 years are eligible to take part in the programme.

Buoyed by the overwhelming response to the existing centre at Sithammadhara, AOL has decided to open additional centres to reach out to a number of children.

“As part of the modules, a special syllabus is being followed and lessons will be taught in a playful manner involving each participant.

The training is likely to commence next month,” says P.V.V.S. Murthy, local coordinator of the kendra. For further details, contact 9246672858.
