Sub-Registrar of Nakkapalli I. Umamaheshwara Rao was caught by the sleuths from Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB), while he was allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs. 10,000 from a complainant.

According to ACB DSP Ramakrishna Prasad, the Sub-Registrar demanded the money from one L. Lakshminarasimha of Rambilli for registering and releasing a gift deed that was executed by the complainant’s sister in favour of her daughter.

The Sub-Registrar opened the gate of his dais and asked the complainant to put the money in his drawer.

Later, he asked a document writer Sattibabu to take the money and hand it over to stamp vendor Sandeep.

According to Mr. Ramakrishna Prasad, all the three were involved in corruption and it was their regular practice.

All the three were arrested under various sections of Prevention of Corruption Act. The accused will be produced before the ACB Special Court on Saturday.
