Creating awareness key to preventing and eradicating the disease’

World Cancer Day was observed by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) at Visakhapatnam Airport on Monday.

The event was organised by AAI in association with ‘India Turns Pink’, an NGO, with the support of Mahatma Gandhi Cancer Hospital and Research Institute (MGCHRI) and HCG Cancer Hospital. TV anchor Suma Kanakala was the chief guest at the programme, wherein, Kalyanmayee Unit, the Women Wing of AAI, participated along with CISF/women employees of various airlines.

Doctors Y. Vijya Aditya, Radiation Oncologist, and Karthik Chandra, Surgical Oncologist, from HCG Cancer Hospital and Mahatma Gandhi Cancer Hospital respectively, delivered a health talk on creating awareness and on prevention and eradication of cancer. Children from Kendriya Vidyalaya-1 and Kendriya Vidyalaya-2 from Marripalem and Kendriya Vidyalaya, NAD, participated in the event. Airport Director G. Prakash Reddy, Ms. Suma Kanakala and the founder president of India Turns Pink Anand Kumar spoke.
