The land-pooling scheme (LPS) of VUDA is voluntary and clear-cut guidelines have been issued to protect the interests of farmers, whether owning private or having assigned land, VUDA Vice-Chairman T. Baburao Naidu has said.
“The process of taking land for LPS has not yet begun. It will be continued where there are no problems but where problems cropped up like at Mudapaka an inquiry would be held and preliminary meeting organised,” he told reporters here on Tuesday.
It was alleged that at Mudapaka some influential persons had entered into an agreement on assigned land and took the D-pattas (title deeds) of farmers by paying an advance of ₹1 lakh and promising ₹10 lakh an acre.
At Mudapaka, two groups of farmers had come forward for land-pooling. However, though a gram sabha had to be held only after issue of notice in Form 1, in view of the allegations a preliminary meeting would be held with farmers, Mr. Naidu said.
A detailed procedure was laid down for land-pooling and the Collector would resume assigned lands for development to give it to land-pooling, he said.
However, anyone trying to purchase the land would not benefit as the GOs were clear in protecting the rights of farmers, he said.
