Tension prevailed in King George Hospital here on Monday when parents of a teenaged girl, who died mysteriously, and their relatives staged a protest blaming some youths for her death.
Police, who booked a traffic accident case, said they were probing the accident. ACP (traffic) Suresh Babu said the 16-year-old first year Intermediate student left home near Baji junction for her college on Sunday morning. A few hours later, she met with an accident and was brought to KGH by 108 ambulance with a head injury. On the same day evening she died while undergoing treatment.
Parents of the girl Janardhana Rao, who plays musical instruments for a temple, and Rajeswari, homemaker, alleged at the mortuary before post-mortem that their daughter's friends pushed her from a bike after one of them promised to give her a lift up to the college. They suspect that it could be a case of torture leading to death based on eyewitness account.
Police said one of the friends of the girl accompanied her in the 108 ambulance to KGH from the place where the accident took place. “We are enquiring from all angles,” Mr. Suresh Babu said.
