Rear Admiral Vijaya Kumar Namballa took over as Admiral Superintendent of Naval Dockyard (Visakhapatnam) from Rear Admiral Raman Prabhat at a formal ceremony held at the Naval Dockyard on Friday.
Rear Admiral Namballa, a marine engineering specialist and an alumnus of National Defence College, New Delhi, held various important positions in the Indian Navy, including operational, training, quality assurance and research and development.
Prior to the new appointment, he was in the Defence Procurement Board, Ministry of Defence in New Delhi as Technical Manager (Maritime and Systems).
Rear Admiral Raman Prabhat, who served in the city over the last four years as Director-General Naval Projects (Visakhapatnam) and as the Chief Staff Officer (Technical) at the headquarters of Eastern Naval Command here, was the Admiral Superintendent Naval Dockyard during the past 18 months. The Flag Officer, on promotion to the rank of Vice Admiral, would proceed to Mumbai as Director-General Naval Project (Mumbai).
