A 10-year old girl was seriously injured and two more persons sustained minor injuries when a mentally deranged man attacked them with a blade at Kailasapuram area under Kancharapalem Police Station on Friday morning.
The severely injured was identified as Soujanya, whose father is a constable in the Armed Reserve (AR) wing. According to locals, the deranged person Joga Rao, aged around 30, attacked Soujanya, when she came out of the house to celebrate Bhogi.
A man aged around 50 and constable Atchyut tried to stop him and they were also attacked. Some youths, who were nearby, rushed to their aid and overpowered the accused and handed him over to the Kancharapalem Police.
Joga Rao of Arilova area, has been completely addicted to liquor and drugs for the past few years.
The Kancharapalem police have registered a case and are investigating.
