Issue of biometric free tokens for ‘visesha sevas’ to be performed for the first time to the presiding deity outside Tirumala began on Wednesday morning at Swarna Bharati Indoor Stadium, the venue of the ‘Sri Venkateswara Vaibhavotsavams’.
The festival will be organised from July 21 to 29.
On July 21 and 22, noted scholar Changati Koteswara Rao will deliver a discourse on the glory of Tirumala. From July 23, ‘visesha sevas’ will be performed to Sri Venkateswara Swamy.
TTD Joint Executive Officer Pola Bhsakar said that in the ‘vaibhavotsavams’ performed under the Dharma Prachara Parishat, a replica of the God’s abode would be created after invoking ‘sakthi’ and ‘avahana’ as prescribed in Vedic rituals.
While the daily ‘sevas’ will be performed all through the seven days, the ‘visesha sevas’ will be performed as in Tirumala on the prescribed days.
‘Viseshapuja’ will be performed on Monday, ‘Ashtadala Padapadmaradhana’ on Tuesday), ‘Sahasrakalasabhishekam’ on Wednesday, ‘Tiruppavada on Thursday, and ‘Abhishekam’ on Friday.
On Saturday and Sunday morning, ‘Sahasranama Tulasi Archana’ will be performed. ‘Pushpayagam’ will take place on Saturday and ‘Kalyanotsavam’ on Sunday evening.
Devotees may worship during the daily sevas without any token or fee, and ‘sarva darshanam’ will be from 10.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m.
Mr. Koteswara Rao said that for various reasons, including those related to health, age, and finance, a large number of devotees were not able to witness the sevas being performed daily at Tirumala, and for ‘Viseshapuja’, the entry was further restricted.
For the first time, the DPP has taken up performance of these sevas outside Tirumala.
Officials have been working hard on it for the last three months. As a result, once devotees enter the premises, they will forget it is a stadium and be transported to Tirumala during the ‘utsavams’.
