Five among the top ten rankers in the Integrated Common Entrance Test (ICET) 2010 are from Visakhapatnam.

A. Sai Praveen grabbed the top spot, followed by A. S. Bharadwaj in the second position. N. Naga Siva Srikanth secured fourth rank, K. Rama Dheeraj fifth rank and A. Karthik eighth rank. All the five have undergone coaching at the TIME, its director J.V. Murty said.

It was also for the eighth time that a TIME student secured first rank since the coaching institute was started 10 years ago and for the second time from Visakhapatnam.

More than half of the top 100 rankers of ICET 2010 were from TIME, he said. The coaching institute announced cash awards of Rs. 2 lakhs to Mr. Sai Praveen, Rs. 1 lakh to Mr. Bharadwaj and Rs. 75,000 each to Mr. Srikanth and Mr. Rama Dheeraj.

All the TIME students, who secured ranks from sixth to 10th+ would be awarded Rs. 50,000 each. Each among the rest of top 500 would get Rs. 25,000, Rs. 6,000 Rs. 3,000 each depending on their rank, Mr. Murty added.

Hyderabad Staff Reporter adds: Sai Praveen and Bharadwaj, who bagged the first and second ranks respectively, are students of Gandhi Institute of Technology and Management (GITAM).“Switching from a technical background to management may be difficult but its all about perseverance and commitment to achieve your goal that counts,” said a confident Sai Praveen.

“I did engineering to have sound knowledge about technical aspects. Today, the industry looks for candidates who are multi-skilled and it's an advantage to have both managerial and technical skills,” says Sai Praveen. But the journey to the top was not easy.

“I worked on the basic concepts and attended a lot of mock tests held by TIME institute. The mentors were supportive and helped students who found certain sections of the tests difficult,” says Bharadwaj, who pursued Computer Science at GITAM.
