To put an end to child labour, Bala Vikas Foundation, in association with Labour Department, District Child Protection Unit and National Child Labour Project (NCLP), carried out their campaign against child labour at Narasimha Nagar Rythu Bazaar on Sunday.
With an intention to sensitise people on the intricacies of lost childhood, the representatives distributed pamphlets and displayed posters highlighting the slogan: ‘Say yes to make the city free from child labour’. Foundation honorary secretary Narava Prakasa Rao said that the team was keen on conducting the campaign till June 12 marking ‘World Anti-Child Labour Day’ and thereafter at regular intervals.
Assistant Commissioner of Labour N. Subrahmanyam, who joined the campaign, said that the social injustice would be effectively addressed if all the departments and voluntary associations come together as a collective unit to work for a common cause. Child Rights Protection Officer B. Mamata and Trinadha Sahu of NCLP, among others urged people to dial Childline number: 1098 to report cases of any child, below 14 years of age, engaged in any line of work.
