The smart village and ward programme of the State government got off to a start in the district with Minister for HRD Ganta Srinivasa Rao formally inaugurating it at Chinnapuram in Padmanabham mandal on Sunday. He went on a padayatra along with District Collector N. Yuvaraj and interacted with people.

The Minister said Phoenix IT Solutions that adopted the village set an example for other corporates. Stressing the importance of people’s participation, he said since the village was backward it was taken up for development. Responding to the request of the villagers, he announced Rs.30 lakh for construction of a school building and Rs.12 lakh for the panchayat building.

During his visit, he visited the primary school, questioned students and enquired about the menu in the mid-day meal scheme.

Dr. Yuvaraj said 925 panchayats would be given in adoption to corporates, voluntary organisations, people’s representatives, individuals and government officials. For the next 60 days, discussion, planning and adoption would be taken up. Funds sanctioned by the government and from other sources would be pooled.

Master plan

Murali and Harikrishna of Phoenix announced that they would keep the village ahead in 20 parameters as envisaged by the government.

The problems in the village would be discussed with people and a master plan worked out.

Smart Villages Coordinator for the district Bharat Kumar (Conservator of Forests), ZP Chairman Lalam Bhavani, former MLA R.S.D.P.A. Narasimha Raju, mandal president Kalla Varma, ZPTC Kasireddy Damodar, Sarpanch Aruna Kumari and RDO Venkatamurali participated in the programme.
