The YSR Congress has demanded the Centre constitute a technical committee to conduct an inquiry into the quality of Pattiseema lift irrigation project and Polavaram Right Main Canal (RMC) works.

Former Minister and YSRC spokesperson Kolusu Parthasarthy on Tuesday alleged that there were large scale irregularities and the project and canal works were sub-standard. In a hurry to complete the inter-linking of Godavari and Krishna water, the Telugu Desam government compromised on the quality of works. Hence there was a need for thorough inquiry into quality of works, he said.

The Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has taken people for a ride by claiming that it was confluence of Godavari and Krishna rivers at the public meeting held at Ferry in Ibrahimpatbam on the city outskirts, he said while addressing at the Polavaram RMC works site at Velagaleru village on Tuesday.

“It is actually confluence of Balerayudu river and River Krishna. In the rush to get Godavari water, the government breached the Balerayudu river bund, facilitating the water to flow into Polavaram RMC,” alleged Mr. Parthasarathy.
