February 20, 2012 11:28 am | Updated 11:28 am IST - VIJAYAWADA:

The written examination for filling Village Revenue Officer (VRO) and Village Revenue Assistant (VRA) posts was organised in an incident-free manner, and district officials and college managements did a good job in the successful conduct of the examinations in 101 centres in Krishna district, district Collector S.A.M. Rizwi said.

People were seen running to the examination centres at the last minute as they would be turned away if they arrived after the test began.

At Montessori Mahila Kalasala, Joint Collector Gaurava Uppal inspected the conduct of the test and also checked the hall-tickets of some of the candidates. Some brought a few complaints to his notice, which he resolved.

Speaking at Nimra Engineering College after inspecting the centre, Mr. Rizwi said as many as 54,523 candidates applied for 39 posts of VRO out of whom 42,247 candidates appeared.

“We have taken all precautions and the candidates have been frisked before entering the hall,” he added. He said 77 per cent attendance was registered for the VRO examination. In the afternoon session, examination for 392 VRA posts was held at 12 centres. As many as 9,753 candidates applied for the posts, out of whom 7,034 appeared, thus registering 72.12 percentage of attendance, he added.

The Collector said written papers were kept in trunk boxes at the sub treasury.
