Village agog over mystery fish

June 20, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:42 am IST - VIJAYAWADA:

Gollamudi village near Nandigama was agog on Friday when farmers reported that fish had seemingly rained down from the sky. While there were no eyewitnesses to it, farmers who went to till their land for the kharif crop this morning found fish wriggling around in their fields. Since there is no water body in near vicinity, local people surmised that they came down from the skies. Curiously, the fish were not of any locally found variety. One hypothesis offered to explain such reports is that tornadoes create waterspouts and sometimes pick up creatures and carry them long distances before dumping them. Others said the fish may have been slid into canals with the release of water from upstream reservoirs.
