Students and staff of Vignan’s Foundation for Science, Technology and Research (Deemed to be University) joined the nation in helping people in the flood-hit Kerala recover from the disaster.

About 23 students from the campus in Vadlamudi of Guntur along with two Kerala-based faculties, a doctor and two drivers headed to the State almost a week ago, to help flood victims restore their houses.

The management has already donated ₹25 lakh to the State through Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund (CMDRF).

Realising that the State needs more than monetary help in the post-flood period, the institute planned to send in students and staff.

Since August 24 the team has gone around Ernakulam, Alleppey, Kuttanad, Kurumassery, Kurumangalam and other places and helped hundreds of local families.

They have also donated food items including rice, tea, dal, sugar and others.

The students were guided by their lecturers T. Anand and S. Vishnu, both natives of Kerala and doctor Suresh Kumar.
