The Andhra Pradesh Tourism wing has embarked on a Konaseema campaign to acquaint tourists with its picturesque backwaters and the lush green outdoors that are perfect monsoon holiday setting for couples and families alike.

The government is keen on attracting tourists from outside the State and also from abroad to this place nestled between the flowing waters of River Godavari and the powerful waves of the Bay of Bengal.

The Konaseema delta is one of the most fertile, lush and beautiful regions of the State. The lush green Godavari delta houses magnificent landscapes, idyllic orchards, dense coconut groves and eye-catching paddy fields.

The Dindi Coconut Country Resort, a property of the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation, is set amidst beautiful backwaters of Vasishta and Vainateya, where the tourism authorities provide a magical houseboat experience.

The Coringa wild life sanctuary is also famous for its scenic backwaters and beautiful mangrove plantations.

From tourism potential angle, the region has a lot on offer but has been unexplored.

The campaign is targeted at cities from which tourists can come for a weekend or an extended weekend either by bus/train or road. The campaign has print, outdoor, radio and digital aspects. A website called www.konaseema.goandhrapradesh.com has also been set up to give tourists an overview of this region. People wishing to make the most of the holiday can also enter a contest on the website and on social media to win a free room for a night stay.

“This countryside captures the cultural wealth and geographical variety and is surrounded by destinations like Papi hills, Kolleru lake and Maredumilli forest. We want tourists to experience this unspoilt beauty,” says Himanshu Shukla, CEO of AP Tourism.
