Former MP Vadde Sobanadreeswara Rao on Monday blamed the State government for the breakout of gastroenteritis at Guntur and advised not to take up unachievable projects and indulge in wastage of money.
Speaking to media persons, he said instead of concentrating on providing basic necessities such as drinking water to its denizens, the State government was concentrating on grandiose unachievable projects .
“Many were in violation of Supreme Court directives. Before initiating the land acquisition, the State government should take the acceptance of 70% of the farmers and discuss the issue in gram sabhas. Land in which multi-crop are cultivated cannot be touched. But the State government is not following any of these directives.”
While mocking at the proposed Amaravati inner ring road, he said the project was not needed as even a city like Delhi, where the automobile population was the highest in the country, did not have such a ring road. “The State government is hell bent on making the farmers paupers by grabbing their fertile land.”
He said both the State Central governments should learn lessons from the farmers’ outcry in Maharashtra and implement the recommendations of Swaminathan Committee.
