State agriculture plan released

The State government on Saturday released the Agriculture Plan for producing 133.97 lakh tonnes of food grain in 2015-16.

Deputy Chief Minister Chinarajappa, Agriculture Minister Prathipati Pulla Rao, Health Minister Kamineni Srinivas and Major Irrigation Minister Devineni Umamaheswara Rao released the plan at the sub-collector’s office here.

Cultivation of crop has been planned in 68.71 lakh hectares -- 43.10 lakh hectares has been earmarked for kharif and 25.61 lakh hectares for rabi.

Out of the 21.12 lakh tonnes of fertilizer available the government had already dispatched 3.31 lakh tonnes to the districts. It would give a subsidy to 7.85 lakh quintals of seed during the year and it had already dispatched 5.73 lakh quintals to the districts, the Ministers said.
