Staff oppose monitoring system in garbage collection

December 01, 2018 11:27 pm | Updated 11:27 pm IST - ONGOLE

Municipal workers staged a demonstration and burnt the effigy of the State government for allegedly deceiving them by introducing real-time monitoring system(RTMS) for garbage collection after promising to keep in abeyance GO Ms. No.279.

The agitating workers, led by CITU-affiliated A.P. Muncipal Workers’ Union city working president K. Srinivasa Rao, came in a procession from the Ongole Municipal Corporation office to the Church centre shouting slogans against the State government and municipal officials for going ahead with RTMS for overseeing garbage collection after installing Radio Frequency Identification Tags in each household. They wanted the government to do away with ‘anti-worker’ RTMS for verification of garbage collection, said union city joint secretary Sriram Srinivas.
