Officials of the Special Protection Group (SPG) on Thursday will visit the site of the foundation ceremony at Uddandarayunipalem. Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi is likely to attend the programme on October 22.

Governors and Chief Ministers of all States, Union Ministers, Ambassadors and heads of various corporate giants from across the world have been invited for the ceremony.

The SPG team will take stock of the security arrangements with the State police. Director-General of Police (DGP), Additional DGPs, Superintendents of Police and officers from other wings will explain to the team the arrangements being made for the ceremony.

“The special force will examine the route-map from the airport to the site, approach road, foundation ceremony site, venue and seating arrangements for VVIPs and interact with senior police officials,” said a senior police official. Police are making elaborate security arrangements with focus on riverfront villages. “Already, police have taken possession of the area, and security has been beefed up in and around Uddandarayunipalem. Special Branch, State and Central Intelligence, Counter Intelligence, Subsidiary Intelligence Bureau and other wings are monitoring security 24/7,” a senior police officer said.
