Director for PG Studies and Research in KVSR Siddhartha College of Pharmaceutical Sciences (KVSRCOPS) Buchi N. Nalluri has received funding to the tune of Rs. 9 lakh from All India Council of Technical Education, New Delhi, to carry out a research on “Mouth Dissolving Films of Antihypertensive and Anti-Migraine Drugs for Better Therapeutic Efficacy”. The project facilitates delivering anti-hypertensive and anti-migraine drugs in the mouth as a thin polymeric film that dissolves on tongue within seconds for quicker action. The funds were awarded on February 5.
Dr. Nalluri has also received a grant of Rs. 54.14 lakh (53,000 British pounds) from the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, as part of UK-India Education and Research Initiative, a wing of British Council under a joint research project on ‘Micro-needle Assisted Transdermal Delivery of Anti-Migraine and Anti-Hypertensive Drugs’ which facilitates delivery of drugs using micro needles through skin for better action. This project is being carried out in collaboration with the Loughborough University, UK and funding will be shared between KVSRSCOPS and Loughborough University. Under this programme, M. Pharm students under the guidance of Dr. Nalluri will visit UK once a year for two years with support from the Siddhartha Academy and Government of India. Dr. Nalluri has also received several international patents for his research work in the past. Even recently, the Food and Drug Administration, USA, approved a topical gel for treating skin cancer which was co-developed by Dr. Nalluri while he was in the US. Recently, at the 65 Pharmaceutical Congress held in New Delhi, he 14 research papers were presented at 65 Pharmaceutical Congress held at New Delhi, M. Pharm students presented 16 papers and and all these works were supported by the Siddhartha Academy. President of the Sidddhartha Academy Nalluri Venkateswarlu and secretary P.
