A meeting of all parties, including the ruling TDP, will be held by the SC, ST Ikya Vedika against the recent Supreme Court’s order on the SC, ST Prevention of Atrocities Act and the subsequent review petition filed by the Centre, said G.V. Harsha Kumar, former MP from Amalapuram.

Addressing the media here on Saturday, he invited the SC, ST Ministers from the State, MRPS, Mala Mahanadu and other Dalit organisations to the meeting to be held at Tummalapalli Kalakshetram in Vijayawada.

He said that the SC, ST Act, a shield for Dalits in the country, was diluted by the court’s recent order. The existing Act itself was not being implemented strictly by police in many cases, he said and cited Rohith Vemula’s suicide case. No convictions had been given in 90% of atrocities cases in the State, he remarked.

He hoped that all the Dalit organisations would participate in the meeting.
