SAAP will work from city soon, says Chairman

Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh Chairman P.R. Mohan on Thursday said a decision was taken at the board meeting to shift the SAAP office from Hyderabad to Vijayawada at the earliest.

“Now that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has decided to work from here (Vijayawada) we have decided to use the technology and the online culture for the effective functioning from here,” he added.

Mr. Mohan said that various sub-committees would be formed to deal with the transfer and appointments of coaches and for the preparation of the seniority list.

“We have only 13 permanent coaches in Andhra Pradesh. The remaining are on contract. They are yet to be regularised.” He said henceforth all the appointments in SAAP will be held as per the qualifications.

“One has to have some experience or knowledge in sports before aspiring for a post in SAAP.”

Mr. Mohan said efforts would be made for the revival of sports academies and hostels which were closed down by the earlier government.He said the next National Games will be held in Goa in 2016 and the preparation for the mega event will commence soon.

“We need to have a long tern plan to excel in big events like National Games. Soon we will begin the preparatory camps. We will also make an effort to bid for 2019 National Games in case if Uttarakhand decides to back out.” SAAP member Ravindra Babu from Nellore wanted the revival of the CM’s Trophy. Olympians Karnam Malleswari, Satti Geeta, Bandaru Hanumantha Rao, Jayachandra and others took part in the meeting chaired by SAAP Vice-Chairperson and Managing Director Rekha Rani.
