Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was remembered across Chittoor district when the a run was taken up to mark the ‘National Unity Day’ on Thursday.

In Tirupati, Superintendent of Police Gajarao Bhupal flagged off the ‘Ekta Diwas’ rally after paying floral tributes at the portrait of Sardar. Dr. Bhupal hailed the ‘Man of Steel’ for ensuring peace and internal stability in the country. The run started at SV University main gate and ended at SV Zoo Park.

At the CRPF’s Counter Insurgency and Anti-Terrorism (CIAT) school-3 in Kalikiri, Commandant Harinder Kumar flagged off the run, in which more than 200 force personnel participated. Deputy Commandants A.K. Singh, P.M. Rejimon and B.M. Rathore took part.

At Sri City, members of Indian Institute of Information Technology’s (IIIT) NSS cell and Hi-Tech police took the run from the academic block to Gyan Marg circle and back.

In Kadapa, Superintendent of Police K.K.N. Anburajan flagged off the run at Ambedkar Circle which passed through Koti Reddy circle to culminate at Umesh Chandra memorial hall. NCC cadets and NSS volunteers from various institutions participated in large numbers.

Superintendent of Police S. Senthil Kumar flagged off the run at Gandhi Bomma Center here. About one thousand students from various schools and colleges in Chittoor took part in the event.

Addressing the students, the SP said that the services of Iron man had been inspiring lakhs of students in the country, helping them cherish higher goals for the country's progress and integrity.

Senior police officials from Chittoor police sub-division were present. The Rashtriya Ekta Divas was also celebrated the police at Madanapalle, Palamaner, Puttur and Sri City sub-divisions.
