Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu arrived in Vijayawada on Sunday to participate in the Yoga Day celebrations. The Chief Minister along with other participants performed different yoga asanas at A1 Convention Centre in the city.
Vijayawada City Mayor Koneru Srdhar, Sports Minister Acham Naidu, Zilla Parishad Chairperson Gadde Anuradha, Social Welfare Minister Ravella Kishore Babu and others participated in the Yoga Day celebrations. Authorities have organised to perform 18 different asanas in the 33-minute yoga session in the city.
Addressing the participants, Mr. Naidu said yoga is part of life and our natural and hereditary wealth. "World over many countries are organising yoga day celebrations and this is a good sign. In the past, Narendra, i.e, Swami Vivekananda propagated the importance of Yoga and now Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been promoting yoga across the world," said Mr. Naidu.
"Yoga is not confined to any particular religion or country. Yoga is a science and it helps in staying healthy and promotes positive energy. The nation has launched a new era today," the CM said. "When I was Chief Minister in 1994, I organised yoga sessions for Ministers and authorities. Recently, three-day yoga sessions in association with Isha Foundation were organised. This has helped in maintaining discipline and improved concentration levels," said Mr. Naidu
Mr. Naidu conveyed Fathers Day wishes to the people. He urged youngsters to respect their parents and safeguard the combined family system in the State. "China had introduced one-child but it lead to few problems as the family members seldom meet together. But we need to respect and follow our family values," said Mr. Naidu.
Mr. Naidu said that Rs.25 crore would be earmarked for promotion and organising yoga sessions across the State. He said these sessions would be conducted by experienced yoga teachers and this programme would be part of Helath department. "We should strive to make yoga part of our lifestyle," said Mr. Naidu.
Concluding the event, the Chief Minister conducted an oath about the role and responsibility of an individual towards the society. Later, he released "Vijetha Chandrababu" book on the occasion.
