‘Veerulaku viplava dandalu' (revolutionary salutations to martyrs), ‘Amaraveerulaku yerra yerra dandalu'… (red salute to the martyrs), ‘Entomandi amarula tyagamidi' (the sacrifices of so many martyrs), and ‘Yerra jandala tyaga palitamidi'…(the fruit of the red flags).
Anyone will be mistaken, if they think that these songs were sung by extremists or communists.
These were the songs echoed at the Telugu Desam Party's ‘Yuvajana Sadassu' here on Thursday.
Dressed in ‘dothis' and red and black coloured ‘kamballu' (blankets) on their shoulders with ‘gajjalu', the cultural troupes enthralled the youth by singing revolutionary songs (viplava geetalu) at the venue before the arrival of TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu.
The ‘dappu nrutyams', and the songs recalling the sacrifices made by Bhagat Singh and other leaders for the country made the youth to stick to their seats.
The artistes explained the audience on the scams and failures of the government by singing songs. People, who were amazed on hearing the revolutionary songs at the meeting, were seen murmuring that after a long time TDP was recalling the sacrifices made by the comrades after losing power in the State.
Teacher's role
Mr. Chandrababu Naidu played the role of a teacher and shouted at the youth from the dais several times, when they repeatedly raised slogans favouring Nandamuri Balakrishna. He asked the youth to maintain discipline in the ‘sadassu'.
There was a huge applause from the youth whenever Mr. Naidu recalled the services of party founder president Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao for the film industry as well as the Telugu Desam Party.
Later, Mr. Naidu received suggestions/advises from the youth and students on development of the party, how to prevent corruption, and other issues. Party Guntur district president Pathipati Pulla Rao, Prakasham district president D. Janardhan, Krishna district president and Mylavaram MLA Devineni Umamaheswara Rao, and West Godavari district president Seeta Mahalakshmi were among those who attended.
