Revenue official gets two-year jail for graft

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Court here on Friday awarded a Revenue Inspector two years imprisonment in connection with a bribery case. It also imposed a fine of Rs. 20,000 under the Section 7of Prevention of Corruption Act.

The Revenue Inspector, Achanta Sakuntala Devi (47) arrested on charges of accepting a bribe of Rs. 2,000 from the complainant K. Subrahmanyeswara Rao for doing mutation of the documents related to his ancestral property at Palakoderu mandal in West Godavari district in 2007. .

A native of Lakshmaneswaram village in Narsapuram mandal, Ms. Devi is now working as Revenue Inspector at Penugonda in West Godavari district.
