Police showing partiality: Vishnu

May 12, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 06:08 am IST - VIJAYAWADA:

City Congress president and former MLA Malladi Vishnu charged the police with being partial to the ruling Telugu Desam Party.

Addressing the media on Monday, he said an army of over 2,000 policemen were clicking photographs of the public to book cases against them, but nothing was done to TDP supporters who raced their motor bikes and did feats on the city roads to celebrate the birthday of MLA Bonda Umamaheswara Rao’s son a couple of days ago.

The lathi-charge of Youth Congress activists even though they took permission for a two-wheeler rally clearly showed the partiality of the police, Mr. Vishnu said showing photographs of the activists being caned printed in the columns of this newspaper. No permission was granted to the RTC employees who were on strike and for members of a charitable trust evicted by force in Satyanarayanapuram when they wanted to take out rallies, but a free hand was given to party supporters, Mr. Vishnu said.
