Panels to evolve public utility standards in capital region

The Municipal Administration and Urban Development Department of Andhra Pradesh constituted eight expert committees for evolving standards for public utility infrastructure being created in the capital region.

Principal Secretary (Capital Region Development Authority) Ajay Jain has, through G.O RT. No. 256 issued on Monday, constituted separate panels for roads, power, smart infrastructure and Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), storm water, water, solid waste, disaster management, and waste water.

The committee on roads will comprise Engineer-in-Chief (Roads & Buildings), S.L. Dhingra (IIT, Mumbai) and C.S.R.K. Prasad (National Institute of Technology, Warangal).

The power committee will consist of Director of AP-Transco, Advisor (Energy) K. Ranganatham and Chief Engineers K. Rajabapaiah (AP-SPDCL) and R. Prabhakar Rao (Dr. Narla Tatarao Thermal Power Station). The smart infrastructure and ICT committee comprises Joint Director of IT Department, Aameer Ajmi (former smart city expert at CISCO), J. Ethiraj (instrumentation, Bangalore) and Nilesh Purey (Gujarat International Finance Tec-City). The disaster management committee consists of A.P State Disaster Management Society Director, Regional/District Fire Officer of Government of A.P and Prof. Ravi Sinha (IIT, Mumbai).

The storm water committee will have in it Engineer-in-Chief of Water Resources Department (WRD), R. Satyanarayana (retired chief engineer of WRD), Srinivas of Indian Institute of Science (Bangalore), and K.V. Jaya Kumar (NIT, Warangal).

Water committee

The water committee comprises Engineer-in-Chief of Public Health and Municipal Engineering Department, CEO of Tamil Nadu Water Investment Company Limited, Kailash Bahuguna (Cadila Pharma SEZ, Ahmedabad) and Janki Jethi (Vice-President of GIFT City). The solid waste panel comprises Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board Chief Engineer, Prasad Modak (Director, Ekonnect, IL&FS Ltd.) and Janki Jethi (V-P, GIFT City). The waste water committee comprises Engineer-in-Chief of Public Health and Municipal Engineering Department, Prasad Modak (Director, Ekonnect, IL&FS Ltd.), Kailash Bahuguna (Cadila Pharma SEZ, Ahmedabad) and Janki Jethi (Vice-President of GIFT City).
