The Tirumala police have launched a manhunt to nab the culprits involved in the sensational case relating to the alleged blackmarketing of the online seva tickets.

The issue came to the fore once again on the first day of the annual Brahmotsavams on September 13when the TTD’s vigilance personnel took Kodandaram from Bengaluru into custody for allegedly attending the Suprabhata Seva on a fake ticket.

Investigations by the police revealed that the tickets were morphed and sold to Kodandaram.

The police, who have already launched an inquiry into the irregularities that have found their way into the online booking of seva tickets, also identified Sholapur and Bengaluru as the epicentres behind the scam. A police team which recently visited Bengaluru also suspected the role of the son of a retired officer belonging to the Karnataka State Administrative Services in the fraud.

According to the Tirumala police, the gang is believed to have taken part in the booking of over 2,600 seva tickets under the online lucky dip system and had secured over 40 to 45 tickets relating to various predawn rituals.
