A week after the murder of businessman B. Srisailavasu (42) in Nandigama, police on Monday nabbed three accused while the prime accused in the case remains absconding.

Hanumatu Rao of Chandapuram in Nandigama mandal, Mohammed Aiaz, M. Krishna Kumar and J. Karthik of Hyderabad.

On October 28, Mr. Rao accompanied by Mr. Aiaz went to a tractor showroom in Nandigama where they killed Mr. Srisailavasu following an argument over a financial matter. “Mr. Hanumantu Rao, 30, had invested nearly Rs. 3.5 crore in sand business as a part of his partnership with Mr. Srisailavasu. Mr. Rao plotted the murder after he returned from the US in March to recover his investment,” Mr. Vijaya Kumar told newsmen here.

The prime accused Mr. Rao had allegedly hired a licensed weapon from M. Krishna Kumar, who is running a bar in Hyderabad. He also hired Mohammed Aiaz, who was involved in two murder cases in Hyderabad. He paid promised Rs. three lakh to each as a part of their plan. “Mr. Rao accompanied by Mr. Aiaz attempted to kill Mr. Srisailavasu on Diwali day but failed. However, they managed to execute their plot on October 28. Mr. Aiaz had confessed that he had operated the weapon,” the police said. The police also recovered the weapon used in the murder, a Hyundai car, cell phones and Rs. 46,000 in cash. The trio would be produced before court on Tuesday.
