It was a day when the students of Loyola Public School (LPS) put their best foot forward as they marched to the drum beat, sprinted like a wind and danced with gay abandon at the annual sports day. The sports meet -2014 was held in memory of Father Y. Papaiah, founder of LPS, Nallapadu.
Be it the march past, or the track and field events and the colourful cultural events, the students displayed their multi faceted talents.
Everyone including children had their share of fun. Recreation games involving boys and girls in colourful dresses were a treat to watch while the juniors and seniors competed in track and field events. The cultural events showcased the country’s rich cultural diversity. Earlier, inaugurating the sports meet, Provincial, Andhra Jesuit Province, Fr. P.S Amalraj called upon the students to grab opportunities provided at the school and realise that all of them have equal opportunities to grow and become great men and women.
The LPS motto, “Born for greater things,” embodies the mission of Jesuit education to mould children to live ‘for others,’ and ‘with others.’
Stating that sports and games play a vital role in shaping lives, Fr. Amalraj said that all Jesuit institutions have laid emphasis on sports and games, and extra-curricular activities.
Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, SCR, Guntur, G. Sriramulu said that students of LPS should consider themselves as fortunate as the school had allotted spacious grounds .
