Manipal Hospitals on Wednesday conducted first of its kind complex liver resection to a patient Durga Bhavani here.
The surgery was conducted by a team of expert doctors led by Dr. M. Manisegaran, Consultant, surgical gastroenterology, minimal access, bariatric and metabolic surgeries. The surgery was of a complex nature as the patient was having a giant hemangioma which is a self-emulating tumour of almost 10 cms in length. The tumour that was between two major vessels posed another challenge but doctors successfully managed to conduct the surgery.
