The agitating junior doctors are going to intensify their agitation without boycotting emergency services.

Talking to The Hindu, P.Hari Kiran from Andhra Pradesh Junior Doctors' Association said that the Health Minister who had been leading them to believe that the stipend for junior doctors would be increased to Rs 23,000 - Rs 25,000 told them that they would not be increased beyond Rs.21,000 – Rs.23,000.

Dr. Kiran said this was not acceptable because even small and relatively backward states like Jharkhand were paying between Rs 31,000 – Rs 33,000 to the junior doctors. As per the MCI guidelines, junior doctors should be paid between Rs 41,000 and Rs 43,000.

The Minister who gave the impression that GO.40, 41 and 42 governing rural services for junior doctors would be put in abeyance on Thursday said that they would not, Dr Hari Kiran said.

He said that the junior doctors would not boycott emergency service and “make the people suffer.” “We will go to the people with our demands and intensify our agitation,” he said.
