Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu launched ‘Jalavani’, a call centre that is aimed at solving problems in drinking water supply, at his residence here on Friday.

His son and Minister for Panchayat Raj and Information Technology N. Lokesh was present.

As part of the efforts to deliver governance real time, the call centre has successfully experimented with the grievance redress mechanism in the last six months.

Addressing the media later, Mr. Lokesh said that 2,576 complaints had been received from various districts during the period of pilot study. Of them, 1,067 had been resolved. Work began in respect of the remaining 791 complaints.

Officials were being instructed to solve the problems on priority basis. Water tankers were being pressed into service and bore-wells dug wherever required.

People have to register their complaints with the call centre through the toll-free number 18004251899 for getting them resolved.

Mr. Lokesh said steps were taken to ensure foolproof implementation of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme and distribution of pension through the real-time governance in about three months.

Panchayat Raj Commissioner B. Ramanjaneyulu was present.
