The Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) chief K. Chandrasekhara Rao’s remarks against Seemandhra people has drawn sharp reaction from the Krishna district unit of the APNGOs’ Joint Action Committee (JAC).
Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, the JAC chairman A. Vidya Sagar slammed the TRS leader for feigning ignorance on identity of ‘Ashok Babu’, the APNGOs’ JAC leader. “We have an answer to all his (TRS chief’s) questions. But we do not want to stoop down to his level,” he said.
Referring to KCR’s statement on ‘dearth’ of intellectuals in Seemandhra region, Mr. Vidya Sagar embraced sarcasm to retort back. “Yes, we agree that Seemandhra region does not have intellectuals who could distort facts and misguide people on historical aspects of the development process,” he said.
Mr. Sagar said while leaders in Telangana region had been resorting to false propagation that their area had been left in a neglected state for the last 50 years, “We did not have intellectuals who could have called their bluff and present the real picture. In 1955, they had asked for a merger in the Andhra Pradesh State, now they say it was done against their will. We did not have intellectuals to put an end to their string of lies. We don’t regret for not having such intellectuals,” he said.
“We have a different breed of intellectuals who always felt happy to see their Telangana brothers and sisters prosper at their cost. Every mandal across Andhra Pradesh has a different dialect. But the Seemandhra intellectuals strove to keep people together.”
